Welcome to Ms. Ottosen's Class
I look forward to another exciting year of discovery in first grade where we connect district and state required themes and concepts together throughout the day. Most of my teaching experience in the classroom has come from Utah and California. I am certified in Gifted Education and know how to teach children at their individual level of learning. I work with parents to provide the best learning program for their child.
I believe every student can learn and is capable of great things! I don't talk down to children, I talk up to them! They rise to the expectations and develop a new level of confidence in what they can achieve. Children remember best when they experience learning concepts with activities that reinforce lecture and seatwork. I teach students how to get along in small groups so they can easily work into leadership roles in the class.
Having leadership roles encourages students to become independent learners as we continue to maintain order in the classroom. I strive to teach children to become independent as quickly as possible after they have proven their academic skills. The growth that comes from the children pulling together as a group leads to confidence in themselves to achieve more.
